I am a medieval art historian working mainly on medieval biblical pictorial narratives in the Latin West, Jewish Art, Latin and Hebrew illuminated manuscripts.
Form 1994 until 2009, I have been teaching courses on Medieval Art, Jewish Art, Christian Sources of Art, at the Art History Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Since February 2009 I am a member of the team of Ars Picta (Analysis and Research on Late-antique and Early Medieval Painting and Iconography) linked to the Institute of Research for Medieval Cultures at the University of Barcelona.
At present I am working on two new independent projects : ‘Art and Science in the Middle Ages’ and ‘Sephardic 15th century illuminated Hebrew Bibles’ (supported by the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, New York).
Since August 2009 I am the Chief Curator of the Italian Jewish Museum in Jerusalem, and Senior Research Fellow at the Art History Department of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
